You Think You Had a Rough Day

Catherine Hickland is just about getting used to the exhausting schedule that is required of her with her portrayal of both “Julie” and “Jenny” on the CBS series “Capitol.”

As many of you may know, each of Catherine’s characters calls for individual hair, makeup, and wardrobe, in addition to the dialog for each role. All of these elements, for both characters, must be accomplished within the normal work day to which she had previously been accustomed…the hours between 10:00AM and 6:00 or 7:00 in the evening, required to produce the 30-minute daily show.

In this particular case, Catherine spends a part of each day as Julie, with Julie’s hair, makeup, wardrobe and dialog. Then for the other portion of each day she is transformed to Jenny with all the specifics of that role.

“I’m really getting into taking on both of these roles within the work day, and I really enjoy them both,” says Catherine. “If I had my preference, however, I think I’d elect to continue to play Jenny. She’s new and, although I’ve gotten to know and love Julie, I think I’d find Jenny a little more interesting. The bottom line is that I don’t have that decision, and I’ll probably continue to play both characters for some time according to all indications.”
