Lethal Loving
Before she ever got to Llanview, daytime veteran actress Catherine Hickland (Lindsay) took a detour to Corinth and Gotham - the setting of LOVING and the serial into which it morphed, THE CITY - to play amorous ad exec Tess Wilder form 1993 to 1995. Alas, the 1995 cancellation of CITY hit the actress hard. "I love daytime so much that to see a show go down hurts beyond measure," she laments. "It's a horrible thing to go to work every day with that fate looming on your mind." Looking back on those years, though, Hickland has fond memories of her former castmates "Darnell Williams (Jacob) is just talented beyond words," she raves. Morgan Fairchild (Sydney) "is wonderful, brilliant and fun, a really great friend." But it was Dennis Parlato (Clay) who starred in Hickland's favorite LOVING moment. In a memorable and very amusing scene, Parlato's character immediately keeled over immediately after he and Tess made love. Clay actually had ingested some poisoned brandy, but the unknowing Tess freaked out because she thought she had, well loved him to death. "It was the best death scene I've ever participated in!" she recalls with a laugh.
