Happy New Year, my beauties! I spent a great portion of the last few months catching up on some good self-help reading. We get so caught up in the day-to-day problems that we forget that we have some really good friends out there who we’ve never actually met, and they come in the form of great books to (a) get us real (Dr. Phil) (b) get us out of debt (Dave Ramsey and Suze Orman) or (c) awaken the giant within us (Anthony Robbins). It doesn’t matter that we’ll probably never meet them in person, but these people have figured out ways for us to “flip the switch,” as I say, and help us to help ourselves. I have already run the bell loudly for Suzanne Somers’s books, having painlessly lost weight on her eating principles, and I thought a great way to start the new year would be by telling you about other great authors who have motivated me in ways I didn’t imagine possible.
If your spirit is broken, or you have been through it and you can hardly stand up anymore, Louise L. Hay is your girl. Her book You Can Heal Your Life has been published in more languages in more countries than I can even count. I have read it a number of times and have given it to many friends when I have seen them in personal pain.
If you are in debt, Dave Ramsey’s The Total Money Makeover: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness is a no-nonsense book about how to get out and stay out of debt. Then, he gives you strategies on building your wealth, no matter what you make. They should make this required reading in high school!
Dr. Phil McGraw’s Life Strategies: Doing What Works, Doing What Matters is great at any age, especially if you want to figure out why you keep doing the same things over and over with terrible results. Hey, nothing to be ashamed of, we all do it, until we are taught how not to.
Anthony Robbins’s book Awaken the Giant Within remains my favorite of his many books, especially if you are weak in goal setting and fearful of the outcome of things. He is a truly gifted motivator, and I thought I was motivated until I read his book. Now, I am on fire! The point is, we can change at any moment that we decide we’re going to, we’ve just forgotten how powerful we are! We are a force!
If you’re saying, hey, Kitty Cat, what about the products? Well, angels, we have a whole new year ahead of us, and thousands of new products to buy. Besides, books are products, and reading any one of these will make you feel more beautiful to yourself, and when that happens, you are more beautiful to the world. :)
