Happy February, Goddesses! It’s been one cold winter here, and of course, my skin and hair have been taking a winter beating. On top of it all, we had a three-day transportation strike here in New York City, which resulted in me having to walk many miles in 14-degree weather. I know, it was karmic payback for me not showing compassion when my mother used to complain that she had to “walk three miles in snow to school every day” when she was a girl.
I’m telling you, my face looked like not-so-fine Corinthian leather, and my hair looked like a Fuller Brush. I set out to find some real help. I sent up smoke signals to the beauty-fix gods and prayed to Saint Anthony, finder of lost things – in this case, my skin and hair!
During a shopping expedition at the super drug store, my beauty divining rod pointed me to Pantene Pro-V Winter Rescue Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Pantene Pro-V Sheer Volume Conditioner. Winter formula! Now that caught this girl’s attention! The price was so fabulous, I figured even if it didn’t do anything spectacular, it wouldn’t be all that bad, though I hate washing any money down the drain. I didn’t have a ton of hope; I try so many of these products and I am usually disappointed, but on these two, I was really thrilled. My hair felts as if I had life restored to it! This shampoo had a gentle and light lather, which still cleaned my hair and the conditioner was perfect.
My skin was really starting to worry me. It’s usually dry anyway, but lately it was just downright dying of thirst. I found two things from two different lines that are really working for me and if you have dry skin, they are really miracle workers. Babor Vita Balance Night Cream is astonishing. I saw a difference in one night! It is a super-rich cream and is made for dehydrated skin, so if that’s you, this is the one. Compared to the super-expensive creams I had been buying, I thought the price was more than fair. I wasn’t insane over their day cream, so I opted to try one from another line for under-makeup wear that I had been hearing a lot about. Clarins Multi-Intensive Super Restorative Day Cream is just beautiful! It hydrates the face perfectly and even gives it a nice little glow. Remember that things are only a bargain if they do something!
Happy hunting, girls!
