I have been searching for a good concealer my whole life. They all seem to make the area under the eyes look worse! The circles may be covered, but it makes the lines look like they’re under a magnifying glass. (Don’t sweat the lines – even 20-year-olds have ‘em.) I eventually gave up and just started using my cream foundation as a concealer.
But then, someone gave me one that I really like. Shiseido makes a little kit called Corrective Concealer Compact and it’s such a great idea. In it are two small wells of color to mix (or not) and a small well of light powder to set it. The brush that comes in the kit is of great quality – one end for the cover-up cream and the other for the powder. I bought the medium for my skin tone. It’s $35, but you know my rule: If it works, there’s value in it, no matter what it costs! When I think of how much I’ve spent over the years on concealer, I could have put my cats through college.
I went into a health-food store the other day and a concealer made by Burt’s Bees jumped out at me. It was $8.99, and what a gorgeous surprise to find that it’s good! It’s not Shiseido, but it’s a fine product. If you’re on a budget, go for this one. Here’s a tip: You don’t have to put concealer right under the eye. Usually, it’s the inner corner near the sides of the bridge of your nose and under the outer corner. Also, pat it on – don’t rub! – until you get the desired coverage.
My lips have been looking so drab lately. It seems like the color has just left me. So, I found a really cool product on www.spacadet.com called DuWop Lip Venom. It’s a clear gloss, with kind of a cinnamon taste, but it makes the blood in your lip area circulate, creating a beautiful natural tint, and the tingle in it causes in doing so makes them plump up. The shine is a bonus, but this is a cool product and it’s hard to find, so check it out. The Web site also carries Burt’s Bees products, so you may be able to pick up the concealer there, too! This girl is not going down without a fight, and these are the new things in my arsenal. I love you all – see you next month!
