I get so much mail asking about affordable, but effective skincare products, and I can’t stress enough to you how important it is to be up on a skincare regimen. Growing up in Florida, I was a surfer chick, which means I baked in the sun for hours a day, and really did a number on my skin.

Skincare has come a long, long way. It doesn’t matter what makeup you use, if your skin isn’t in good shape, it’s not going to look nearly as good as it could. Enhance Me is a wonderful company that makes great products at affordable prices. I found a very nice kit of theirs at www.overstock.com that is a dynamite deal if you have dry/mature skin. It is called Summertime Dream Skincare Set and here’s what you get: 20,000 Leagues Under the Skin deep cream cleanser, Spray Misty For Me skin toner, Eye Cream of Jeannie anti-aging eye cream and Hope Beyond Hope ultra-moisturizer. All this comes at the very livable price tag of $29.99, a deal to be sure. They also carry A Peel Of Dreams, a microdermabrasion kit that is very effective for skin polishing and getting all of those dead skin cells off your pretty puss. At $24.99, it’s also a deal!

My friend Jenn Kaiser turned me on to a really fantastic lip balm/gloss that also freshens your breath. C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Tint is mint-infused for fresh breath. Now there’s an idea! Lips stay moist and protected, while peppermint oil gives breath long-lasting freshness. I have tint #1139 red/brown, which is a sheer berry color that I think would be beautiful on many types. There are four different colors to choose from, but I do love this one.

Anyone who knows me knows that my cell phone is glued to either my head or my hand. If it’s not my cell, it’s my iPod. I found the coolest item! It’s called a Swapset, and it’s a headband (different fabrics and patters to choose from) that comes with earphone attachments for the cell phone and/or the iPod. It’s not only keeping the hair off my face for the summer, but probably saving me from certain brain damage from hours a day yakking on my cell. I love this thing! The headbands are super high quality, and the attachments fit right on it. Of course, it was invented by a woman. Steffi Thomas, you rock!
