A few years ago I went to London to visit one of my best buddies and stumbled into a store that literally made my eyes roll into the back of my head. It’s called Lush and in it were all kinds of bath bombs and handmade soaps and concoctions for pampering yourself. Now, my readers know that I am a huge advocate for telling everyone in the house to scram for a few minutes and locking the bathroom door while you whip up a bath that’s fit for a diva.
Alas, I came back to the States looking for this Nirvana of a store, but no such lush. Until now! Stores have opened in NYC, San Fran, Santa Monica and Boston. But better still, you can order online and also get a catalog to delight your imagination! I love everything in this place, but I’m going to talk about a few of my favorites.
They have this outrageous bar-of-a-thing called King of Sin that I just can’t get over. This is truly for those of you who have dry body skin and are sick of slathering on layer after layer of moisturizer. It looks like a bar of soap, but it’s not soap. You use it when you are just about to get out of the shower and you rub it all over your wet body and do a quick rinse, voila! It leaves a slight oil slick on your body that is super moisturizing, no need to put any lotion on after this shower. If you don’t have cobra-worthy skin, or you simply want to switch off, buy yourself a little container of Dream Cream. It’s a body moisturizer that is heavenly.
But above all, get yourself some balls! That’s right, bath balls (Bath Bombs). They are the coolest things and are super-fragrant intoxicating bath fizzies.
Just fill up the tub with water, drop one in and watch your bath turn into an instant spa treatment. A tip: Buy a bunch of ‘em and put them in a bowl for some instant house aromatherapy. There are many to choose from, but as you read the text on the Web site or in the catalog, you’ll know which ones to buy.
There is also a great face soap called Babyface that is just great for taking it all off in a hurry without stripping your skin. There are also great bars of soap hand-cut and made – just pick the one that appeals to your senses.
This store is great for gift buying, so the next time you’re in a gift rut, give them a visit. Gotta run, lovin’ you!
