Product Queen
Happy summer, everyone! Since my last column, I have found so many neat little products it will take me two issues to cover them all!
Philosophy must have seen my column when I wrote about Hope in a Jar moisturizer because it sent me a box of goodies to the studio. I don’t usually accept free products prior to writing about them. (I am, after all, a product critic and I don’t want to feel obliged to write something nice if I don’t feel it merits a good review.) However, there were two items that I went bananas over, quite unexpectedly: Amazing Grace Shampoo, Bath and Shower Gel and Amazing Grace Hair Conditioner. I’m kind of a snoot when it comes to hair products, but I decided to give them a test run. What the heck? At the very worst, I just wouldn’t write about them. Well, I loved them both, and together they are a one-two punch of hair power! I’m thrilled because I travel a lot and the shampoo doubles as a body wash, and it really is an excellent product for both.
Okay, moving on to the bird talons I call my hands. I keep my nails long for the show (it’s hard to play a bitch with bad nails…), but my cuticles are so dry, and that’s a problem for many people. Sally Hansen came out with a very cool thing called Maximum Growth Cuticle Pen. It’s a cuticle and nail moisture treatment, and it has really helped. It’s a flow-through pen that fits easily in your purse, so it’s a great on-the-go item. It’s oil-based, with vitamins and fluoride, so after you apply it, don’t let your fingers do the walking in your hair.
As many of you know, I am Somersizing and I’ve been eating Suzanne Somers’s sweets line. She has the best sugar-free chocolate I’ve ever had, and because sugar is a food group in my world, her SomerSweet line has been a blessing. If you are doing the Suzanne Somers diet, or want to get started, log on to www.suzannesomers.com and get going. I’ve promoted her so much (I’ve lost 23 pounds!) I keep waiting for that phone call from her. It hasn’t happened yet, but I’m patient.
This brings me to my next product, I was making chocolate-covered strawberries the other night, and being the hog that I can be, I didn’t wait for the chocolate to cool down, so I burnt the heck out of my lip! I cried all the way to the drugstore and ended up finding an amazing ointment called Aquaphor. I have since used it on the driest areas on my body and it’s fab. It doesn’t smell so great, but as a utilitarian product, it rocks.
See you next month!
