OLTL Lights Up (And Gets Down) For July 4

Last year’s ONE LIFE TO LIVE July 4 episode was wacky enough to help the show win an Emmy, so this year, the powers-that-be didn’t bar themselves from doing it again: Look for an all-female musical episode this week, courtesy of Lindsay’s overactive (and imprisoned) imagination.

“They’ve done a great job with it,” praises Executive Producer Gary Tomlin, who credits the head writing team of Lorraine Broderick and Chris Whitesell with helping to cell the episode. “They’re so great; if you come up with an idea, they run with it.”

On Thursday, Lindsay will wander through her ajar cell door to the cafeteria, where the songs begin, starting with “Bad Girls.” Expect appearances from main characters Roxanne, Blair, Jessica, Allison, Starr and Nora—and one male is rumored to appear in an unexpected way.

“It’s so exciting,” enthused Catherine Hickland (Lindsay) on the expected 18-hour day of taping. “I’m not going to have a minute to myself.”

Tomlin, however, enjoyed the antics from afar, letting director Jill Mitwell handle the actors that day. “I couldn’t come back from Hawaii and face that,” he grins. “I needed a little rest.” Sounds like the cast might need some, too.
