From the looks of my mail, many of you are looking for a new makeup foundation. Frankly, I wish women didn't feel like they had to wear so much, because I have to wear a lot of makeup and powder at work every day. I don't put it on with a sponge, I put it on with a spatula! I call it getting "spackled."
Lately, I've been trying new foundations, looking for something to that gives my skin a little life and some decent coverage, and I've found some nice things. Maybelline makes a good one called Express Makeup 3 in 1 (it's in stick form) that I really like a lot. I was miffed that the particular drugstore I went to had no testers, but I broke the drugstore guy down and he opened some for me to try so I could choose the right color. (I ended up buying a golden shade.) I like to put foundation on with clean fingers--it's cheaper than a sponge--but a sponge is good, too.
Lancome has come out with a new liquid foundation called Photogenic, and it's really nice--it reflects light. Estee Lauder also makes a light reflector called Enlighten that I use, as well. Don't forget, if you want to try these, you may ask the girl at the makeup counter to please give you a sample so you can try it for a few days. You are, after all, a babe and you have rights!
If a tinted moisturizer is all you need, Laura Mercier (found in fine department stores) has gorgeous ones in several shades. My co-worker, Hillary B. Smith (Nora, ONE LIFE TO LIVE), swears by this and wears it on the show. If you don't like to wear foundation in the summer (I don't), but you still want to give your puss a little punch, Origins makes a cool liquid bronzer, Sunny Disposition, that seems to become part of your skin once you put it on. It's really a beautiful color, but again, try it in the store. If you are just plain busted this month, take one of those hundreds of lipsticks you don't wear anymore and smudge a little on your cheeks. Sometimes what you don't care for on your lips looks good on the bridge of your nose and across the cheeks. Just go easy, or you'll look like you're running away to join the circus.
Well, that's it for this month, girls! Loving you...meaning it!
