Prior Soap Roles
ANOTHER WORLD/TEXAS: Dr. Courtney Marshall (1980-81)
CAPITOL: Jenny Diamond/Julie Clegg (1983-87)
BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL: Brooke Logan (1987)
LOVING/THE CITY: Tess Wilder (1993-97)
ANOTHER WORLD/TEXAS
- “[Executive Producer] Paul Rauch tested me in about four or five roles before I got Courtney. Then, I was on ANOTHER WORLD for about four months, which was a great way to spin off into TEXAS. I got to work with some great people, like Beverlee McKinsey [ex-Iris, AW]. On [TEXAS], Kin Shriner [ex-Jeb] was my love interest. We left together and are still good friends.”
CAPITOL
- “I took over for Kimberly Beck. I then came up with the idea for a double role; I told it to [Executive Producer] John Conboy – whom I love – and he liked it. I didn’t write anything, but the idea was mine.”
BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL
- “They asked me to fill in when Katherine Kelly Lang [Brooke] was sick. At first, I said ‘No’ because B&B took over CAPITOL’s spot. But then Bill Bell personally asked me. How do you say no to a Bell [laughs]? So, I did about five episodes, which was a lot of fun.”
LOVING/THE CITY
- “Tess was a great character. She was one of the few who survived the mass murders on LOVING and go to do the spin-off. THE CITY was only on for a year, but it couldn’t been a great show if it had been given a chance, I think.”
ONE LIFE TO LIVE
- “I was only supposed to be on for one day, which was fine – I came in without an ego. That led to three, and then to a three-year contract. I’ve now been there for more than six years and hope to keep going because I love Lindsay.”
Q: How has the business changed since you were Courtney?
A: “The stories have become less character-driven. In the past, you kind of knew what the characters would do, but wondered about what would happen around them. These days, the stories are more about events. Also, we don’t have as big a budget to work with. Still, I’m so impressed by what they’re able to do with the budget we do have.”
