Most of the beauty questions that I get are about aging. It is really bumming you guys out! I am probably older than most of the babes who read this column and I will tell ya, it makes me want to reach out and give each one of you a huge hug. How many times have you heard, “Youth is wasted on the young,” but you didn’t stop to figure out what it meant because you were young when you heard it? One of the greatest things about aging is hopefully that maturity is following it. Honest to God, I wouldn’t want to be 20 again. I didn’t enjoy it the first time. I was naïve (never stupid) and made tons of mistakes, which is okay because, after all, we are the sum total of everything that has happened to us and what we apply what we learned from it to this day. I still make mistakes, and I don’t like making them, but hey, sue me, I’m human. The trick is staying positive about everything and seeing the good that comes from the experiences we have because there is always a good. It just depends on how you see it.
Why talk about this in a beauty column? Because we wear our lives on our faces! It’s true. Before 30, you have the face that you were born with. After 30, you have the face that you deserve. What does this mean? You wear your character on your face, that’s what. Next time you go to the mall, make a point of looking at people. You’ll see all of the joy or all of the misery a person allowed themselves to live. So, start smiling, girls, and if you don’t have something to smile about, change it. We have the power to change anything. We’re babes.
Okay, my editor is going to flip if I don’t talk about a few products….There’s a company called Sudden Change in the big drugstore chains. I have never tried its products before, but I just road-tested three of them and two of the three were great. My favorite is Sudden Change Magic Beauty Potion. It says to apply on clean skin, but I applied it over my moisturizer and I just loved the effect! It makes your skin glow, but in a subtle way. It gave my face a little life for the day. I didn’t even want to put makeup over it, but you know that’s out of the question. My makeup looked great.
I also love the Sudden Change Under Eye Gel. I had never found one that I thought was all that good, but the price was so right, I thought, “Why not give this one a shake?” Lo and behold, it helped the puffiness and the dryness. You can also wear it under your eye cream.
I have to say, the All Day Under Eye Lift seemed kind of severe, but I don’t pack bags under my eyes. However, women who do say this stuff works. Some people use Preparation H under their eyes for the bags. That makes me wonder what they use for hemorrhoids, but that’s another column…
See ya next month!
