Product Queen
I love sifting through all of the fabulous emails that you babes send me on my website (www.hickland.com). Although many of you just want to tell me your thoughts (I love that!), others have a few questions. So here are a few of the most-asked questions along with what I hope are my helpful replies....
Q: Where can I buy La Prairie Cellular Contour Eye Cream?
A: It is sold in fine department stores (Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus) and you can call La Prairie toll-free (1-800-821-5718) and ask for the closest store in your area.
Q: My nails are weak and brittle and won't grow because they break. What do you recommend?
A: Up until a few years ago, I had a lifelong habit of biting my nails and they were always breaking. But I found a liquid protein called Nailtiques (in drugstores or call 1-800-647-4147), which you brush on your nails like polish. I also use their cuticle gel because mine are so dry. I recommend a professional manicure to get you started, and then you can do your own.
Q: Who cuts your hair? Do they use scissors and a razor?
A: Laurent D. at PRIVÈ salon in Los Angeles took my hair from long to short, and I think he's a genius. He travels between his three salons (L.A., New York and Las Vegas), so call for an appointment. Herve at Peter Coppola Salon in N.Y.C. also cuts my hair and does a great job. They only use scissors on my hair because it is so fine. (I told you I only have 12 hairs on my head; they're 12 great hairs.) Razors can be used on thicker hair, though, to achieve the layered look. Always take a photo with you to show the hairdresser what you want. I showed Laurent D. a photo of Meg Ryan's hair and he gave me a longer version of that.
Q: Where can I buy Andrea Eye-Q Anti-Stress Eye Masques?
A: I buy them at Cosmetics Plus in N.Y.C. and they are available in chain drugstores. (If you can't find them, call the company toll-free at 1-800-621-9585.)
I want you all to know that I consider it an honor that you not only read "Product Queen," but really do take my advice. Don't forget that if you don't honor you babeness, who the heck will? I hereby give you permission to take time out of every day for yourself and not feel guilty about it.
