The Bad & The Beautiful
SNAKE IN THE GRASS: Lindsay Rappaport
HER WICKED WAYS: Lindsay's the great catalyst for trouble in Llanview--in 1998, she played a prank on Nora by making Bo think he was infertile (which led to many unforeseen consequences); this August, she injected Nora with a memory-erasing drug so the lawyer would forget she'd been locked up in Colin's bedroom all summer (the kidnapping was also initiated by Lindsay).
SHE'S A SLY ONE
Catherine Hickland
Is Lindsay's bad? "I think she's bad. But bad people never think they're bad; that's why they're always surprised when people are angry with them."
Would Lindsay want to be the heroine if she could? "I don't really think that's in her. She's more complicated than that, and that makes her interesting."
Who's you're favorite bad girl? "Cynthia Watros [ex-Annie, GUIDING LIGHT]. I harken back to her for inspiration. [Bad girls] are maddening characters. They make people nuts to watch them, but it's like watching a train wreck--you can't help yourself."
What advice would you give Lindsay? "Get some therapy! And make sure he's really cute and young and single!"
Have you ever done anything naughty? "There have been many instances, but I can't think of anything. I'm not sure I even would share it! Owning your bulls--is really hard to do, but once you do it, it will open your world. Once I take responsibility for [doing something wrong], I put it in the mental and economic shredder. Anyone who says they haven't done anything wrong ever, I applaud you for being wonderful."
NOTES FROM THE NEMESIS: "Catherine works as Lindsay because she works hard at it," says Hillary B. Smith (Nora). "I'd like to say it's because she's naturally an evil person, but that would be a lie. Catherine and I have had to go to scary places to get to the place that the script wants us to get to. I lead her there because I've been here longer. That's the only reason why because she's certainly been in the business longer because she's so much older that I am [laughs]."
