I am not what you would call a domestic goddess. By the time I finish feeding five cats and three dogs, walking them and administering diabetes shots, I can’t bear the thought of housework. That’s why I have Amy, my domestic engineer. Without her, I’d have NO life. So, I am always thinking of ways to keep her happy, even if it’s just a little thing a day. I found an amazing dishwashing soap made by Williams-Sonoma that not only cleans dishes, it softens my hands (Madge!) and it has powerful aromatherapy because it smells like grapefruit. Citrus is known to perk you up and lighten your mood. What a great stocking stuffer!

Then, I was visiting my sister in Florida and got some funky eye thing going on. The doctor said, “No makeup for a week.” I said, “ARE YOU KIDDING ME?” I had to use a brand-new mascara every day, so this blonde ran to the drugstore to find the cheapest, but best thing I could find. I had never tried Max Factor Stretch and Separate Mascara before, and it was on special for $3.49 – and I’ll tell you, it worked just great. I’m not looking for Tammy Faye Baker lashes, just more than the good Lord gave me! If you can get this stuff on the cheap, I say, go for it.

I continue my quest for the perfect eye cream (I’ve been on La Prairie for so long), so I went to Sephora. The salespeople seemed sweet on Dr. Perricone’s Neuropeptide Eye Area Contour (and at $195 I thought, it had better be good) and another eye cream called Caudalie Eye Contour Cream from France ($48). Now, 195 clams is insane money, but I figured if it works, I can use it sparingly. I hate to say it, but I think La Prairie just lost me after 12 good years together. The Candalie eye cream is also good, just a different good. The Perricone is a true treatment and is showing signs of reversing my undereye lines, which frankly, are the only lines on my face so far – except for my smile lines, which I don’t want to go away. I earned ‘em.
