On THE CITY, Tess was always looking to help others. Not a far cry from actress Catherine Hickland, who devotes much of her time and energy to helping animals. Currently, she and husband Michael E. Knight (Tad, ALL MY CHILDREN) share their digs on New York City's West Side with six cats and one dog. "Michael is a cat lover," says Hickland. "But he's said if I get one more, I am out on the street!" The actress continues to house stray animals until she can find homes for them. That's okay with her husband, but doesn't sit well with the animals. "When a new cat comes into the house, there is usually some hissing and fur standing on end." Sounds like a soap!
