OLTL's Catherine Hickland & Ty Treadway
Troy drives Lindsay to the edge of insanity!
Sex, lies and tape--three words that describe Troy MacIver's plan to get Lindsay Rappaport to confess to her part in Nora's kidnapping and subsequent memory loss. Although not an uncommon plot on soaps, ONE LIFE TO LIVE's recent foray into this kind of storyline is definitely a winner! It takes two talented actors to pull off the kind of scenes to which viewers were treated. Ty Treadway (Troy) and Catherine Hickland (Lindsay) got our attention as they battled each other in words and in deeds. There was nothing that Troy wouldn't do to prove Lindsay's guilt, and he went to extremes to accomplish this. He pretended to be in love with her, and then pretended to be his dead twin brother Colin. Granted, it is a typical soap storyline, but it most certainly has never been played out with such drama, excitement and heartbreak, thanks to the superior acting performances of Hickland and Treadway.
Troy's plan was to win Lindsay's heart. He romanced her and pretended to fall in love with her, and he was very convincing. Troy proposed, she accepted and they planned to elope in Paris, but instead, Lindsay was in for a shock. Using tapes, telephones and videos, he terrorized Lindsay and led her to believe that he was Colin--back from the dead--and that he was holding Troy prisoner.
Treadway was totally convincing as the menacing Colin. "Colin" took her to the fun house to see Troy, who was chained to a wheel. Lindsay vowed to get him free. Troy used the fun house and it's secret doors to his advantage as he turned himself from Troy to Colin several times, and then got Lindsay to confess. Once she did, he did. He told her that he never loved her, he hated being with her and could only make love to her by pretending she was Nora.
Lindsay's world came crashing down...and Hickland's performance was fantastic as she showed Lindsay's pain and disbelief. Devastated, Lindsay was an emotional basket case. She didn't know what to do; she only knew that she didn't want to get caught. The first chance Lindsay got, she hit Troy over the head with a crowbar, chained him to the wheel for real and demanded that he give her the confession tape, but he wouldn't.
Troy pleaded for his life, and Treadway showed the fear his character was going through when he realized that Lindsay was beyond reason. In Emmy-deserving performances, Hickland and Treadway kept us glued to our TV's, waiting to see what would happen. We weren't disappointed!
