Memorable Moments-Star Shine
There aren't many actresses who can play a character who is so deliciously devious and manipulative, without going over the edge and losing whatever viewer sympathy she might have. But ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Catherine Hickland knows how to play her role to the hilt, and viewers keep coming back to see just what Lindsay Rappaport will do next!
After revealing another of her lies--this one being the fact that Bo, not Sam, could be Matthew's father--Lindsay thought that she would be able to win Bo back. Little did Lindsay know that her sister Melanie had already taken her place in Bo's heart. That might have come as a shock to Lindsay when she found out, but would that stop her from trying to get Bo back? No way!
Watching Hickland play Lindsay is pure enjoyment, especially when the audience is in on her schemes. Oh, what a sight Lindsay was when she greeted her sister dressed in the wedding gown she wore when she and Bo were supposed to become man and wife. There was Lindsay, pretending to be losing her mind, offering her sister the gown to wear when Melanie and Bo would wed.
Who else but the multi-talented Hickland could pull off such an obvious ploy to make Melanie feel guilty about having feelings for the man her sister loved so dearly? Who else could make Melanie recall all the times that she was favored by their father, which Lindsay was cast in the role of bad sister, without having Melanie realize she was being manipulated?
As Melanie fell for her act, viewers were treated to the sly smile on Lindsay's face, as the guilt-ridden Melanie hugged her sister and silently vowed to make things right, even if that meant giving up Bo forever. As Lindsay continued to play on Melanie's feelings, Melanie was torn between her feelings for Bo and her duty to her sister. The more Lindsay seemed to be pushing her sister towards Bo, the more guilty Melanie felt…until she finally lied to Bo and told him that she was going back to her husband Colin. With that, Lindsay found her opening. In her special way, she tried to comfort Bo, all the while pointing out that she would never have left him and was still in love with him.
Time after time, scene after scene, Hickland's talent shines through. Although Lindsay may be doing some dastardly things, you can't hate her. After all, she's in love, and we are continually amazed at how she keeps us coming back for more. Bravo, Catherine!

High Praise From Her TV Sister
"It's always fun working with Catherine," says Darlene Vogel, the lucky actress who plays Lindsay's sister Melanie. "We have the best time together. It's really been hard work and I think she deserves an award for what she's been able to do. She's the only person I know who could pull that wedding scene off. Wait until you see the rest of the stuff coming up. That's nothing compared to what this chick has done," she says, smiling.
