A Marriage Made in Heaven (Or Close to It!)
Talk about suffering for your art! When real-life husband-and-wife duo Michael E. Knight (Tad, AMC) and Catherine Hickland (Tess, THE CITY) hosted last month's episode of Lifetime's ongoing WEDDINGS OF A LIFETIME series, Knight had to battle his serious fear of heights. The wedding that Knight and Hickland hosted, between a New York attorney and a police officer, took place at the top of the World Trade Center, 107 floors up. "When the producers told us we would be shooting there, I figured that as long as we stayed indoors I would be fine," Knight says. "If I look at the horizon, I'm okay. It's when I look down that I begin to panic." Imagine the actor's surprise when he had to go outside on the observation deck. "I was kind of freaked," admits Knight, but adds that the show's producers pulled him through it. He taught me that the observation deck is literally in the center of the building. It is surrounded by 20 feet of concrete, so you couldn't get to the edge even if you wanted to." Although she has no particular fear of heights, Hickland says that after two 15-hour days of taping, she, too, was happy to come back down to earth. "We were so high up that my pager didn't work," says Hickland. "On the way up in the elevator, my ears must have popped at least 10 times. But I didn't realize how far up we were until I noticed airplanes were flying below us." Both agree that the end result was worth the effort. "It was such a romantic show," says Hickland. "It really made you believe in love again."
