Lovebirds Catherine Hickland (Lindsay, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, Courtney Marshall, TEXAS, Julie/Jenny, CAPITOL, Tess, THE CITY/LOVING) and hubby Michael E. Knight (Tad, ALL MY CHILDREN) recently stole some time off of work for a belated vacation to Italy. The couple returned from their romantic getaway refreshed, rejuvenated and as much in love as ever.

"He's everything to me," Hickland says of her husband.

The couple met eight years ago at a party in California. At the time Hickland had just returned from three lives of living in Europe after her divorce from BAYWATCH star David Hasselhoff. She met Knight soon after. At the time, he'd recently quit AMC and was busily pursuing primetime work in L.A. They married one year to the day after they met in a romantic ceremony on June 27, 1992, in Malibu, CA.

During an (1998) AOL chat, a fan asked what it was like to be married to Knight. Hickland replied, "Like a dream come true! He's the best husband I've ever had and I should know because I've had three of them!"

Friends of this daytime couple admit that they are polar opposites when it comes to their personalities. Hickland is outgoing, loves meeting new people and often hosts parties in their fab NYC apartment. Knight, on the other hand, is painfully shy.

"I'm really a homebody," he admits. "On the air I'm Tad, this very gregarious person, but after I get out of the studio, I'm basically home. I like to cook, I do. I'd make somebody a great wife," he teases. They plan to have children in the future, but until then, it's their dog and six cats that they lavish their love on. Together, they have cultivated one of daytime's happiest off-screen love-affairs.
