Broad Humor
If you enjoyed seeing Lindsay and Nora hanging out together on One Life to Live’s Fan February episode, you can catch the real thing at “Girls Night Out.” Catherine Hickland and Hillary B. Smith’s (Lindsay and Nora) live comedy show at Brokerage Entertainment in Bellmore, N.Y. on June 7.
If you’re a man, however, you may want to stay home. “A couple of soap chicks, broad humor, no dudes,” explains Hickland. “The reason I wanted to do it with no dudes is because it’s a fun opportunity for women to get together, have a few drinks and a lot of laughs. I’m a chick’s chick, and I’m all about the party.” However, men are not officially banned. “You can’t turn away people at the door, it’s illegal,” Hickland laughs.
As for the show, “There is a lot of participation with the audience. I don’t want to give too much away. I’ll just say that you’re going to have a lot of laughs. It’s topics that women will totally relate to.”
The show is an offshoot of Hickland and Smith’s real-life friendship. “It’s stuff that we’ve [laughed about] over the years,” says Hickland. “We both cry so hard it nearly becomes a Depends moment. So we wrote them down, and over the last five years we’ve been able to turn it into a show.”
Showtime is 7:30pm. Tickets are $25, with a two-drink minimum. For more information, call (516) 785-8655 or visit www.acoupleofsoapchicks.com.
