Moonlighting
What could be more romantic than getting hitched atop New York's World Trade Center? How about having real-life marrieds Michael E. Knight (Tad, AMC) and Catherine Hickland (Tess, The City) in the wedding party, and a cable network capturing the event on film and picking up the tab? That's what happened to Melanie Bradshaw and Sean Ahearn, whose road to the altar is chronicled on the latest installment of Weddings of a Lifetime, premiering Sept. 15 on, of course, Lifetime.
"The show tracks the wedding of a young couple who submitted the story of their romance to Lifetime. Viewers follow their lives for 90 days prior to the wedding," Hickland explains.
"It's done documentary-style, and it's really great." Additionally, the show re-enacts Sean's September 1995 marriage proposal to Melanie.
Hickland and Knight were on hand "the day before the wedding, the night before and for the actual wedding. We interview them as they're getting ready, and do wraparounds. It's a romantic show," Hickland says. "It's a great concept because Lifetime always picks people who have really great love stories."
Deborah Gibson sings for the couple, and New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani officiates the ceremony which was taped Aug. 25 at the Pinnacle Suite at Windows on the World.
